Caged
The coldness of the shiny metal sends a chill down your spine
You sit in the corner of your imprisonment, your head's down, resting on your knees
Your fellow caged victims cry out into the night, hoping for a reply
But of course nothing happens
If only you knew why you deserved this treatment
Why you were being put through your own hell
Why you were taken and then locked up in an iron cage with no food, left to rot in the coming days
No one has an answer for you
Your fellow caged have the same question
The cries for help are still being screamed out into the night
You'd yell too if there weren't too weak
You'd pound on your iron cage to attract attention from anyone if your hands & feet weren't bound my a twine rope
You sit in your cage suspended about 15 feet in the air
It's only been a few hours and the fatigue has already set in
And it increases immensely every few moments
The iron cage is about 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide
And it rests on a rusty iron rod
If you wanted to finish yourself off quickly you could muster up what's left of your strength and do a little jump
Then the weight of you coming back down would break the rusty rod
But if you broke the cage, with you inside, you would also tumble down the nearby hillside and then fall into the ocean
Where you drown if you weren't already dead
It only used to be an idea but now it was your plan
The torture was too long and you just wanted to die already
You lean your back against the cage and have your folded legs hold the rest of you up
"On three." you tell yourself
Then after a mental countdown from 10 you push of the iron bars with your back and tuck your legs in as much as you can
When you land back on the bottom of your cage your realize that you are no longer hanging
Now you are falling
Once the cage hits the ground it starts in long journey down the hillside
Your now just barely conscious as your limp body is thrown around as you roll down the hill
Back and forth you are thrown as you tumble
Every time your head hits the iron bars you feel yourself slowing leaving this earth
In the distance you hear cries from your once fellow caged victims
"He's escaped!"
"He may have gotten his cage free but he's not free. He's probably dead."
"He's going to drown."
Those were the last things you heard as your eyes shut never to open again
Then the cage is thrown into the water
The prison guards rush down to receive the cage with your corpse inside
Then the guard finds a tree near the ocean and then re-chains the cage back up
He knows your dead but he wasn't satisfied for how long you hung
Four hours wasn't long enough for him
Your body was kept caged up there for weeks upon weeks
Slowly over those weeks you decomposed to just bones
When there were only bones left another prisoner was caged up in that iron deathbed
The bones weren't taken out, they were simply left there as a reminder of what will happen to him in the coming hours if not days
The new prisoner cries out to the sea too
Hoping pirates would save him
But no one did, no one helped in
Just like you he was caged and a few hours later he died caged
And just like you heaven was not that place that summoned his soul
You sit in the corner of your imprisonment, your head's down, resting on your knees
Your fellow caged victims cry out into the night, hoping for a reply
But of course nothing happens
