Nerd academy
Marissa Thomas walked down the long, boring hallways of Jefferson Academy. She had four mintues until her next class, geometry. Jefferson Academy was boarding school that focused on math. You weren't even allowed inside the school gates if you didn't have at least a A- in a math class. If you recieved lower, a shiny pink letter arrived outisde your dorm room. The pink letter was a nice way of saying, "You're an idiot. Now get out." Marissa and the other students like to call it the dreaded pink letter. She opened the door to the tiny geometry room. Most of the students hadn't arrived yet and the few that were there were either day dreaming or sitting on desks talking to their friends. She sighed and sat down at her seat in the back by the window. Her hand supproted her head as she she stared out the tiny window. Oh how she yearned to be outside. But students were rarely aloud outside of the large school building, most of the buildings were attached by underground tunnels. "Marissa! How's it going?" someone shouted. She quickly turned towards the door to see Eric Stevenson, her friend. Actually they're alittle close to be best friends, but they're not close enough to be a couple. "Class starts soon you should take your seat." Marissa said looking into his brown eyes. Eric brushed a piece of her curly brunette out of her eyes. Marissa playfully shoved his arm away and smiled. "Y'know I was serious. No shoo I see Mr. Lark coming." "Crap, you're right he here. See ya." Eric said grabbing his book. Marissa smiled again and flipped open her geometry book and found a piece of clean paper for notes. "Now class, welcome to Jefferson Academy's honor's geometry class. Taught by yours turly, Mr. Lark." Mr Lark announced as he stepped in front of the white board. He always started class this way, making a huge entrance the first week it was funny. Now it's just plain annoying for his students. And Marissa and Eric could look forward to his class for three more years. Mr. Lark started teaching the class but Marissa attention was on the world outside. She was up four stories in a honor's geometry class, she already knew half of what was being taught. Marissa was glad that her paretns were spending a lot on this for her and she was glad that she accepted to attend such a nice school but she doesn't wanna have a job with something to do with my. Marissa wants to be photographer. To travel the world and take the pictures seen in those travel magazines. And the only way she could get out of this school was by failing out or suffering for three more years until graduation. But by the time the three years were up she knew she would a complete nerd. "I really need to get out of this nerd academy before they turn me into a complete nerd." She thought. Marissa looked up and saw Mr. Lark's mouth moving but she heard no sound. Her classmates scribbled down notes while she was thinking of ways to get out of class. Marissa raised her hand, even though she had no idea about what was going on. "Yes, Marissa." Mr. Lark said as he turned away from the white board. "I need to go to the nurse. My head hurts and I can't concentrate. It's so bad that I have no idea what you're even talking about." she lied. "Oh my, yes please go. Unless you want to get kicked out go get some medicine." Marissa stood up and starightened her school uniform. Her uniform was another reason why she called Jefferson Academy, nerd academy. Marissa's school uniform consisted of a gray pencil skirt that was high waisted and came down to about mid-thigh in length. And a blue plaid blouse that was to be tucked in at all times. She slowly walked out of the room as if her legs weighed twice their normal weight. When Marissa was outside the classroom she headed for the stairs and went to the the stairs. She walked down two flights of stairs before waiting about ten mintues. After the ten minutes was up she went back to honor's geometry. "Mr. Lark, I'm going home. Just thought I'd let you know." Marissa lied again. "Well feel better. And for homework is pages 55-67." He replied. Eric looked straight at her and saw through the lie. Marissa waved and then swiftly left the room. She had just gotten away with two lies in one day. This could get her kicked out. And she would have no problem with that.
